On Friday, December 16, 2011, an Ellis County sentenced Bobby Joe Hall, 56, of Burleson, Texas, to a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000. On Thursday, the same jury had convicted Hall of Indecency With a Child, a 2nd degree felony.

Medicaid Waiver Program
Jay Fox, CEO of Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie, and David Anderson, CEO of Ennis Regional Medical Center, encouraged Ellis County to enter into an Affiliation Agreement under a State program that allows local governments and private hospitals to work together.

After a trial before the Court, Judge Bob Carroll of the 40th Judicial District Court awarded the 2000 Volvo truck and utility trailer to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Redistricting Press Release- July 1, 2011

Commissioners' Court Report - 06/13/2011
In a regularly-scheduled meeting on Monday, June 13, Ellis County Commissioners declared a ban on outdoor burning and issued an order prohibiting the sale or use of restricted fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Ellis County. This prohibition includes professional fireworks displays, although individual cities may make different rulings for displays within city limits.

Redistricting Committee - April 28, 2011
Having grown rapidly during the last decade – from 111,360 in the 2000 Census to 149,610 in the 2010 Census – Ellis County must draw new lines for its commissioner precincts. The redistricting process must adhere first to the Constitutional provision for equal protection – commonly referred to as “One Man, One Vote” – but must also meet the provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Convicted child molester Gene Edward Loftis, age 57, of Waxahachie, was sentenced on Friday, April 8, 2011, to 40 years in prison by Judge Bob Carroll, 40th Judicial District Court of Ellis County. Loftis must serve a minimum of 20 years before he can be considered for parole. Loftis pleaded guilty to the charge, and he waived his right to appeal the sentence.
